Family and friends are remembering puppeteer John Henson, the son of the late Muppets creator Jim Henson who passed away Friday. Time Warner Cable News Reporter Alexandra Weishaupt has reaction from those who remember him best.
SAUGERTIES, N.Y. -- Family and friends of John Henson are reacting to his death after the son of the late Muppets creator passed away suddenly due to a heart attack at his Saugerties home Friday.
Henson was actively involved in the family business, best known as the character Sweetums, and featured in many popular Muppet movies.
Aside from his work with the Henson Company, family members say he was a magnificent artist with a keen eye for detail, passionately beautifying the small town of Saugerties.
According to his older brother Brian, he was also a devoted father and husband who took great pleasure in spending quality time with loved ones.
We always would say he was the soul of the family. He had a very deep, deep soul, a very large capacity for loving people and his passions were up here in Saugerties, although he was very involved with the company and all the Muppet stuff and everything that we did and he remained always very involved. His passion was up here in Saugerties where his family was and these buildings, all these incredible creations,” said Brian Henson, John’s brother.
Henson is survived by his wife, Gyongyi, his 15-year-old daughter, Katrina and his 10-year-old daughter, Sydney.
He was just 48-years-old.
