There's usually that last minute rush to get Valentine's gifts for the one you love. But as our Geoff Redick reports, this winter storm is making it a lot harder to get the shopping done.
ALBANY, N.Y. -- When it snows like this, it's tough sometimes to get around but for us guys on Valentine's Day: snow is no excuse.
"No, no, no. It's the mood, it's the spirit. You want to please the family, make them happy," said Vincent Portious, Albany resident.
So we stopped at Frank Adams Jewelers, as a good place as any for a guy like me.
"We have beautiful things from David Yurman, from Ippolita, that are in the two to five hundred dollar price range." (Reporter: "I'm a young guy though.") "So we'll go a little more expensive for you, you look pretty successful," said Tim Ryan, Frank Adams Jewelers Vice-President.
Fine jewelry: definitely good for some guys but how about chocolates? The Pearl Grant Richman's store had some advice.
"It's never too much chocolate. Ever. Period. Even if I say I'm on a diet, I want you to tell me 'I don't care if you're on a diet, have some chocolate that you like," said Margaret Ressmeyer, Pearl Grant Richman's Manager.
Maybe we could just do some useful chores for her, like brushing snow off the car.
Claire Weigel thought that might be a good idea, Thursday we found her husband sitting inside the warm car, while she brushed instead.
(Reporter: "Valentine's Day is tomorrow, does he owe you more because you had to brush the car off?) "Maybe, yeah, we'll have to see what he can do." said Claire Weigel, Voorheesville resident.
But what if you want your gift to last, and be useful for many more Valentine's to come?
How about a nice shovel from Phillips Hardware?
"Uh, for Valentine's Day you probably want to get some candy, some flowers, with those winter products. I would definitely say, get something with a little heart. Maybe a fluffy teddy bear or something," said John Phillips, Phillips Hardware.
