State Police have arrested the two men they say are responsible for a shooting that left three injured. As Time Warner Cable News reporter Alexandra Weishaupt explains, troopers are calling it a fight that got out of hand.
OTISVILLE, N.Y. -- Investigators searched the area outside the Victory Lane bar Sunday, where the shooting took place. Troopers say Kevin Brennan, 24, of Middletown, fired shots at David Babcock, 27, around 2:30 a.m. after a fight involving Thomas Hughes, 26, of Port Jervis, and Babcock.
"The incident happened inside the bar and moved outside" said New York State Police Senior Investigator Patrick Beyea.
Once outside, Troopers say David Babcock’s brother, Andrew Babcock, followed Brennan into the parking lot where they began firing shots, hitting one another.
Both David and Andrew Babcock were airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, while Brennan was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center, treated for a minor gunshot wound and released.
Beyea said, "Everyone is expected to survive."
The Victory Lane Bar is a popular spot for locals, many of whom are now stunned by the news.
"I'm surprised," Thomas Jewis said. "I never heard of that kind of stuff going on there, fights and that kind of stuff."
Brennan faces assault and weapons charges. Hughes also faces a weapons charge.
Troopers say Andrew Babcock could face charges as well, pending his release from the hospital.
