DEERPARK, N.Y. -- State police arrested four men in connection with two home burglaries, one in the Town of Deerpark.
Troopers were called yesterday afternoon for a burglary in progress on West Peenpack Trail in Sparrowbush.
The caller reported that someone was attempting to break into the home. Troopers said the suspects, upon seeing that the homeowner was there and on the phone with police, then ran.
Their car was spotted a short time later in Port Jervis by a State Trooper.
As the trooper attempted to stop the car, a pit bull puppy was thrown out of the moving car.
State Police finally caught up with the suspects on Neversink Drive.
19-year-old Trayquan Lee, of Port Jervis, a 15-year-old also from Port Jervis and 19-year-old Raheem McKinoon, and 20-year-old John Shortt, both from the Bronx were taken into custody.
It was later determined that the puppy was stolen earlier in the day during the burglary of an occupied home in Pennsylvania, along with a 55 inch television, which was also recovered.
All four suspects were charged with burglary and criminal use of a firearm.
