RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Suicide claims nearly $40,000 lives each year.
To help educate and provide support the Rensselaer County Suicide Prevention Task Force unveiled a new “Suicide Postvention Response Team" to help those affected by suicide loss.
The task force provides counseling, resources, and crisis planning to those in need of help.
"Provides response to communities whether it's families, schools, or the larger community in the event of tragic loss to suicide," said Rachel Handler, administrative director of Behavioral Health Services at Samaritan Hospital.
The task force received a $4,000 grant from the New York State Office of Mental Health.
