NISKAYUNA, N.Y. - Niskayuna's school board may make a decision tonight on plans to consolidate grades within the district. The district faces a $2.5 million budget shortfall for next year.
During a meeting last month, a review committee sent the school board three proposals to choose from.
The plans include consolidating five kindergarten through fifth grade elementary schools into four. That plan would keep the middle schools as is, for grades six through eight.
Another plan is to consolidate five elementary schools into four Kindergarten through fourth grade schools. In that plan, fifth and sixth graders would go to Van Antwerp Middle school, and seventh and eighth graders would stay at Iroquois.
The last plan would create a middle school campus with sixth grade at what is now Rosendale Elementary School, putting grades seven thought eight at Iroquois.
Tonight's meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at Van Antwerp Middle School.
