SPRAKERS, N.Y. -- The dog breeder, Herbert Weich, in Sprakers may be able to receive back some of the dogs that were seized from his home.
There were 25 dogs that were surrendered permanently to the local rescue shelter. However, there are ten other dogs he may get back. That decision will be determined at a later appearance in Montgomery County Court. At that time, Weich will also be required to give an update on renovations to the shelters at his home.
The case gained attention from animal advocates across the country after people learned he was keeping the dogs outside. Eventually, the dogs were taken from Weich until he improves the shelters on his property.
Weich is expected in town court on Monday night to answer an animal neglect charge.
