ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Even when it's this bad outside, the people who respond to emergency calls, like fires, have to be at their best.
The subzero temps and snowfall made things difficult for crews at a house fire in Selkirk. Flames broke out Thursday evening in the one family home.
As firefighters were putting out the flames, the water would freeze to the ground, making everything slippery. A tent was also set up to shield firefighters somewhat from the icy wind.
There is no word on any injuries there.
The slick roads may have been to blame for a head on collision on Glenmont Road and Route 144 in Glenmont. Three cars were involved and one of them actually caught fire.
One person was sent to the hospital.
