With recent weather, it's important to leave yourself extra time to clean off your car, and warm it up. Our Carmella Mataloni has more winter driving tips to keep in mind during the winter months.
STATEWIDE -- Many people take the time to clean off their car after snowfall. However, there are other steps drivers should take to ensure your vehicle operates safely in the winter.
According to car experts from Advanced Auto Parts, some routine inspections can make a huge difference. They suggest checking your tire pressure, wipers, and wiper fluid on a regular basis.
Drivers should make sure they are using the correct wiper blades. For winter, the blades should have more of a beam style, rather than a standard wiper. Those blades are stronger and work better during snow build up.
A lot of auto part stores offer free testing, and will check everything on your car, including the alternator and the starter. Experts say a quick check can make a big difference.
"Especially with how erratic the weather gets around here, things can change very quickly so you want to make sure your car is safe, you want to make sure it's prepared," said Daniel Mullock, Advanced Auto Parts Retail Parts Professional.
It's also recommended that you keep supplies in your car, including the snow brush and scraper, extra wiper fluid, a flashlight, and jumper cables.
