BERKSHIRE COUNTY -- Berkshire County sees its first case of West Nile in humans. It's the third case in the Bay State.
The virus was found in a woman in her 70s who has been hospitalized, but is expected to be released soon. The Massachusetts State Health Department has raised risk levels of the virus to "high" in Pittsfield as a result.
Health officials urge extra caution when it comes to avoiding mosquito bites. They said to use insect repellant, cover up exposed skin, and avoid outdoor activities at dusk and nighttime, when mosquitoes are at their most active.
